Why do German Catholics use the German standard that Martin Luther created for his Bible?

So what I've learned is that the modern standard high German stems from Martin Luther's Bible, but how come it's used in all of Germany? Isn't Luther demonised by the Catholics? Did the Protestants force the standard upon the rest, and if so, when? When Prussia united Germany, or earlier?
