Kai Havertz a quick assessment.
Just a quick point to people who fail to see what he adds to the game.
He was immense going forwards and backwards.
Yes we all have seen the bad miss. It happens. Name me a striker who doesn't miss.
He set up the first due to smart positioning and reading of the game.
He pressed all game and cleared several balls out the box.
If anyone needs to see what elite movement is I would ask them to look at the moment we win the ball back for his goal.
He springs into action before anyone, drives at the back 2, identifies where to isolate a player and then the rest is perfect.
Do I know he has flaws? Yes we all see it. But that what you get.
I would point out we all call for a classic number 9, which is what haaland is.
He was completely pointless today. Yes he scored, but apart from that city were down to 10 men.
I mention this as it highlights how somebody who scores isn't necessarily the best thing for the team.
Haaland in our team would be problematic for us and mean a complete restructure of the team.
Kai isn't the coldblooded finisher we all wish. But his g/a are healthy and his overall game as a striker/midfielder is elite.
He also does something a lot of other number 9s we are chasing/compare him too (Watkins,Haaland and so on ) and that's turn up in big games.
He has scored and assisted against :
Liverpool, City, Spurs, Chelsea, Newcastle, Bayern, Psg, United, Villa and so on.
Name me one player we have in our squad bar maybe Saka who even comes close in terms of output against the best.
Final point - people forget he is 25. Bar the insane player that is Haaland, I can't think of many strikers in the past 30 years who are anywhere near their best at 25.
He has played as a striker for about a year. So effectively he has changed position and been asked to transition into something very different to what he was, and has excellent numbers for and people think he should be finished at 25.
If he just improved his finishing even a tad ( which will come with age, practice and experience) then we would have genuinely one of the worlds very best up front.
Saying all that though yes we need another striker, but to help havertz not replace him.
Some rest and relaxation would do him the world of good.
Long may the reign of King Kai continue.
