how far does legacy actually take you?

title. i have legacy to one t20 school but im not sure how much it actually helps. i hear from some sources that students with really bad (3.5 or lower) gpas can get into t20s with legacy, but i also hear that the legacy ar for t20 school is still below 10%?? :( also i know legacy sucks and its unfair
