Samsung dryer main control board discontinued
I have a Samsung dryer model DVE45R6100W/A3 that suddenly stopped heating and the drum continues to spin even when it's off. From what I've read online, it sounds like the main board has gone bad. I found the part number DC97-21429B and it looks easy to install.
Unfortunately, it appears to be practically impossible to buy the part. I can find many other versions of the DC97-21429 part, all ending with a different letter (DC97-21429D, H, N, O, P, Q, etc.), but not the B. Samsung Parts says that the multiple versions are because they keep "improving the board" but they aren't cross compatible. However, I tend to think by changing the board slightly every so often and stopping production of the old boards, they are simply creating forced obsolescence which makes people buy a whole new appliance.
I've created a saved search on eBay hoping that a DC97-21429B board becomes available quickly. If not, I'll be forced to buy a new dryer, but it sure as hell won't be a Samsung. I've read that GE, Maytag, and Whirlpool are better at supporting their appliances with replacement parts. Would I have a problem stacking one of those brands on top of a Samsung washer?
