Frontload washer to buy

Hi community,

As Labor Day approaches, I'm planning to buy my first combo of washer and dryer (never owned one, always rented before, so this is super exciting for me!) but I honestly don't know which one to choose, so many in the market! I want to buy a frontload washer and need a gas dryer. Family of four, so quite a lot of laundry to do, as well as dog stuff, I also want to wash shoes in it occasionally and not worry about it breaking. After talking to many people, most recommend LG, but some also say Samsung. Any recommendations which one to choose? thank you!
