20mm vs 24mm to go with a 40mm lens

My main lens is a 40mm, I’m thinking about getting a wide lens to go with it.

How much difference is there in the 2?

Shooting on a Nikon FM3a. Considering only Nikkor lens. Use would be street, travel and landscape
