Delphine's immortality

I haven't finished coven yet so I don't know if she really dies or how, but I was thinking...

Even after Marie cut her head she was still alive and speaking. What would happen if Marie had burnt her until she was ashes or smashed her skull until there was barely anything remained? Would she still have been alive? What are your theories?
