Anyone disappointed by the story?
I know what kind of responses I will get for this thread, because people always hype.
BUT
I need to write this.
The story in the trailer is literally "rebuild the world". I feel like it's a big downgrade compared to CrossCode. You know how much better the story is in that game. The setup is overdone.
The protagonist can speak now, maybe can't remember the past again, but this is not distinct enough from the previous game. Many indie game companies fall into the trap of a great first release and making the same game over and over. Hopefully that's not the case here (gameplay will probably be fun though anyway, although I don't know how I feel about companions).
CrossCode also had a world with 2 layers of reality on top of each other - the MMO and the real world. This one also seems to have only 1. It may only have references to CrossCode that suggest that it's in the same reality.
Fans of a game always hype and stay willfully blind to flaws in the trailers, demos, etc. and then a few months earlier it turns out the game was much worse than they anticipated... too late to give developers any feedback about any changes, or to show the video game developers at large that they have a discerning audience that votes with their wallet.
Let's wait and see if I was right about this.
If you got threatened or offended by this and feel the need to write a passive-agressive comment, do it somewhere else.
