Waivers disapproved
Got off the phone with my recruiter who told me my waivers for 1. Past Depression&Anxiety would need an additional psych evaluation (seemingly the easiest part to get approved)
- Latent Tuberculosis in my blood work (even though completely asymptomatic and not currently nor ever have had active TB) would need full treatment and eventually need to test negative before possible acceptance into the AF.
Treatment for latent TB can take 3-4 potentially as long as 6 months. My recruiter and I knew there was a chance the letter from my doctor stating my latent TB has no effect on me may not be enough.
My recruiter was optimistic and thought that kind of waiver would be enough. I on the other hand had my doubts. Turns out I was right and this will make the process a bit longer for me.
However, I was disappointed when my recruiter mentioned even with the treatment there is no guarantee I’ll be approved entree into the Air Force and recommended I may want to look into the Navy, as they have more loopholes, ways to get around things, and overall are a bit quicker with processing things. I’m unsure if he is trying to get rid of me and send me off to somewhere else or if he’s simply looking out for me and trying to think of ways that I can get shipped off as quickly as possible, for my sake.
I’ve got a 90 for my ASVAB score and personally think I’ve been a great recruit and he has been a great recruiter. Does it seem odd he brought up the Navy? I was really looking forward to continuing this process with him and the Air Force. Any thoughts if I should really look into switching to the Navy?
