Was Myths of Ancient Greece your favorite childhood book too?

When I first saw Age of Mythology, it felt like a portal into a world I adored. A world I had read about in my favorite book on myths. I didn’t have to imagine gods hurling lightning from the heavens I was the one calling down Zeus wrath on unfortunate enemies. Built settlements, temples, commanded legendary heroes, and watched as giant cyclopses tossed enemies aside like toys. Back then, even the simplest physics in the game felt incredibly realistic.

I still remember that feeling. A late evening, the glow of the monitor in a dark room, the sound of battle filling the space. My parents weren’t home, and I had an entire night ahead of me to become the ruler of myths once again. It wasn’t just a screen full of pixels it was my own mythological universe, where I could rule and fight like a true hero of ancent legends.

You probably have memories like that too: rain outside the window, a warm cup of tea in your hands, and there you are again building your Olympus, defending Atlantis, calling down lightning upon your foes :D

It’s funny how badly I want to relive that feeling.

Retold looks amazing and maybe I’ll be able to buy it someday. For now, I just watch YouTube videos and reminisce about those nights in front of the screen :) What an incredible time that was!

What are your first memories of AoM? Share them too! Interesting how much people have connection between book and game
