Career Paths for an RBT

Let me start by saying that I’ve truly loved being an RBT for 2 years now. It’s been one of the most fulfilling jobs, but lately I’ve been thinking of the trajectory of my career and I know for a fact that I don’t want to be a BCBA. With that not being an option I’m willing to pick, I’ve decided it’s time I move on.

Lately, I’ve seen a lot of people leaving ABA and going for other careers. I’ve been thinking of going to school to become a school counselor. I’m still doing a lot of personal reflection and research on being a school counselor so no details have been made concrete atm.

If there is anybody else who has left ABA for another career path, could you tell me what you guys do now? Or if anybody has also gone the school counselor route, how did that transition go? To note, I’ve seen a lot of people with an undergrad degree in psychology but mine is in liberal studies…so I don’t know if that has any effect on career options either.
